Thank you so much, Heather, for sharing your story!! I couldn’t be more in love with The Whimsical Fox line! Congrats on your newest little peanut!

{ Heather }

Tell us about you and what you do!
I design modern baby rompers that I sell through my site, they are handmade and hand printed right here in Toronto.

Duck Duck Goose {$42 }

Park Life { $36 }

Lapin {$38 }

Do you have a full/ part time job? Do you have a side hustle? What are they?
I think I actually have two full time jobs, I keep my toddler alive by day and run my business by night…oh and I’m also 34 weeks pregnant….so I have lots of energy…I’m kidding, I don’t, i really don’t.

Walk us through a normal day of yours. Soccer games, daycare, work, dinner, ballet practices, what’s involved?

I usually wake up around 6:30 to my little man saying “hug mama, hug mama”. Then I give him his milk and snuggle him a bit. From there the day is a blur of classes, making sure I feed him and hustling to work on my business as soon as I toss him into his crib. I also sometimes pin him (gently) between my knees (it’s like a hug…) while I answer work emails and DMs…multitasking at its finest

How do you prioritize your to-do list?
Toddler needs (top of list)
 Work needs (middle of list) Taking time to pee (bottom of list)

Do you get down time in your day? If so, what’s one thing you do for yourself daily?
What’s downtime? Sometimes I am able to wrangle my LO into the running stroller and go for a run.

How many hours of sleep do you get on a regular basis?

Well I’m pregnant so I straight shut down often….before that usually around 8 hrs a night….not always uninterrupted. I’m awful on no sleep.

What inspired you to start The Whimsical Fox clothing line?
I always knew I wanted to do my own ….something, but it wasn’t until the idea for The Whimsical Fox came that everything clicked and felt right. Starting this business was always my path, I feel that every skill I achieved before I met this business challenge prepared me for it…oh and I was expecting my friends and family to be more shocked when I announced I was launching TWF, however no one was. I guess they always knew I would take the risk and just go for it.

Where do you get your inspiration for your designs?
Honestly, I design for my son, things we do together, things he likes, the ideas come throughout the day. I always carry around a sketchbook for when a new design pops into my head.

Where do you go or what do you do to stay inspired for updating your designs?
I’m inspired by everything, daily life, especially in the Spring when everything is so beautiful.

What was the hardest part in starting a children’s clothing line?
Finding the right suppliers for fabric and snaps and all the little bits and pieces. I learned some hard lessons that made me smarter for my business.

What was your “ah-ha” moment since starting your business?
I’ve had so many, I remember one night in particular when I designed Moi + Mama and Duck, Duck, Goose (my two top sellers). I was so in a groove that night, I had to keep getting out of bed and sketching new designs while sitting on the bathroom floor. I didn’t want to turn on the light and wake anyone up. I would dooze, have another idea, get up and sketch…I did that for hours. Very productive night. lol.

What’s your favorite activity to do with the family?
Family run, yes we are so those people. We throw my LO in the running stroller and head out. We also adore our am walks on the weekends, they usually involve a slow stroll with coffee in hand and way too many pastries.

What’s one quote you stand by?

“Do it now, do it now, do it now” – side of LuLuLemon Bag, yep!

Simple isn’t it, but hard to follow. If you have a dream just go for it, there is never a “right” time.

RAPID FIRE: Answer questions with one word or a short phrase ! GO!

List maker? Phone or paper?
both, I love lists

What’s on the night stand? Book? Magazine? Wine?
baby monitor, adorable lamp, flowers and pic of my handsome husband and I in Italy

If you had an afternoon to yourself, what would you do?
Get tipsy on Champagne and go shopping with girlfriends, that’s honest.

Your go-to meal when in time crunch – for the family.

Your go-to activity for the kids if you need 15 minutes to get something done.
Ipad….yes judge me, my toddler is a maniac and last time I left him to his own devices he was climbing the ladder in the nursery which was being renovated….Sorry you said rapid fire answers right? I’m a talker.

Do you have a favorite app that you can’t live without?
VSCO for editing pics

Favorite social media platform.

Favorite meal to cook when you have time. (Mine includes wine)
Whatever is at the Farmers Market in season + WINE + Steaks…..omg I miss wine (I’m 34 weeks pregnant right now) OR Mexican….I also love tequila….see a trend here?
