Mama Stories

This mama is going to blow you away with her talents and ambition to go after her passions in life! From creative business owner to author and business owner to blogger. Yup, she holds all those title next to the most important ones….wife and mother. I was lucky enough to read through one of her drafts in her new children’s book coming out and I would be lying if I said I didn’t fall in love with the story itself and the message within the pages.

Thank you for sharing Krysta!! I loved reading your story! Congrats on your new book! I can’t wait to see it on the shelves of my local bookstore!

Tell us about you and what you do!
I’m a wife to my real estate hubby and mama to my 4-year-old daughter Kennedy.  We own a bar in Costa Rica and lived there for 4.5 years before moving to Charleston, SC.  I am a copy writer and social media specialist and work from home. : )

Do you have a full/ part time job? Do you have a side hustle? What are they?
My full time job is copy writing, but on the side I am self-publishing a children’s book!

Walk us through a normal day of yours. Soccer games, daycare, work, dinner, ballet practices, what’s involved?
We start with lots of coffee and cartoons!  My daughter LOVES TMNT, and so do I, so we always start our day cuddling while watching that.  Then, I do a kitchen touch up… I hate a dirty kitchen… and mentally prepare for my things to-do.  My hubs works throughout the day, and 2 days a week our daughter goes to daycare, the other days she stays home with me.

Because I work from home, I block off time to get writing done for clients, but also try to get outside to a park or kid’s activity so that my daughter can run off some steam.  I always try to cook at home, and start dinner around 6, then we eat, enjoy time together, play and it’s off to bed for Kennedy at 9.

Usually, I’ll try to get some more work done while catching my favorite night time shows, or just decompress with some vino tinto!

How do you prioritize your to do list?
I know what HAS to get done… and I know what is IMPORTANT to get done.  Keeping those two things in mind, I can filter through the other stuff and place it in the “not today” box.

Do you get down time in your day? If so, what’s one thing you do for yourself daily?
I actually do get a lot of downtime throughout my day because of working from home.  I make sure I get my work done, but I definitely relax, enjoy my coffee, eat a big salad and turn off for a bit.  I LOVE TO RUN… but unless my daughter is in daycare or my husband is home, that doesn’t happen.

How many hours of sleep do you get on a regular basis?
I get about 8 hours.

Rapid Fire Answer questions with one word or a short phrase ! GO!

List- maker? Phone or Paper?

What’s on the night stand? Book? Magazine? Wine?
Wine and notepad.

If you had an afternoon to yourself, what would you do?
Run, yoga, pedicure, massage, writing with a great glass of wine.

Your go to meal when in a time crunch – for the family.
TACOS!  I’m a taco fanatic!

Your go to activity if you need 15 minutes to get something done.
TV?  I know, that’s bad… but Mama’s got to do, what Mama’s got to do.

Do you have a favorite app that you can’t live without?
I’m really enjoying Voxer that a client turned me on to.  It’s like a walkie talkie!

Favorite social media platform?
Aside from not being able to link… Instagram.

Favorite meal to cook when you have the time?
Probably still tacos, because I have a legit problem.  But I do love eggplant parm too!
